Drums for every function
In steel or stainless steel, with or without rubber lining, head, tail or snub, ALTEMA offers conveyor belt drums, from 88 to 600mm diameter, for “classic” applications.
Bi-trunnion or cylindrical handling drums, smooth or rubberized, we are able to respond effectively to a wide range of technical solutions.
A wide range of conveyor belt drum sizes
ALTEMA covers a wide range of dimensions for the manufacture of conveyor drums. The handling drum can be uncoated or rubberized, with different types of shaft/flange connections: conical removable hubs with or without key, UCFC flanged bearings and shrink discs.

tail pulley
Usually positioned on the other side of the control section on a conveyor belt, it allows the control section to be returned to the operator.
head pulley
The head pulley is the drum that sets the conveyor belt in motion.
snub pulley
The snub pulley increases the belt’s contact surface with the nearest drum.
Take up pulley
The take up pulley is used to adjust belt tension according to the load to be conveyed.
Lagging for handling drums
With 25 years of experience, discover the different lagging solutions for conveyor belt drums offered by ALTEMA and the associated know-how: choice of coating profile, lining technology and preparation phases. The rubbers on offer range from smooth rubber to ceramic laggings, as well as products such as the diamond-shaped ISO 284/340 and many others.
LINKING SYSTEMS for conveyor belt drums
ALTEMA offers a variety of connections between the shaft and the flanges: removable vecobloc hub or shrink disc, UCFC flange bearing or welded connection to the flange.
CLAMPING RINGS
The shrink disc’s operating principle is based on the radial deformation of the frustoconical parts that form its head. The torque applied to the screw causes an axial movement of these parts, which, due to their conicity, come into contact with each other and generate a pressure force. The advantages of shrink discs are that they eliminate play between the drum and shaft, and distribute the drum load evenly over the entire shaft diameter.
VECOBLOC UNIVERSAL HUBS
VECOBLOC removable hubs, also known as TAPERLOCK hubs, are a different type of removable connection system for securing the handling drum to its shaft without the need for special tools. ALTEMA offers a wide range of removable hubs to meet all requirements. This solution offers users an alternative to shrink discs when they wish to retain a keyed connection.
